ACTION ALERT

Continued Pressure for ProHijab

The Assembly for the Protection of Hijab calls on all people to take action in support of human rights and the fundamental freedom of religion. Please write to your MEPs expressing condemnation of the growing ban being placed on Hijab. A sample letter and MEP contact details can be found at www.prohijab.net

Muslim women in France, Germany, Belgium and many other countries are being denied their most basic human rights - that of freedom of thought, conscience, and belief - which are enshrined in numerous International Treaties.
The ban on Hijab gives rise to serious and profound concerns. Such discriminatory legislation will alienate Muslim women and their communities in Europe, and hence have a deep negative impact encouraging racism and hostility towards Muslims, thus stoking the flames of intolerance and hatred.

Pro-Hijab, in conjunction with Caroline Lucas MEP, will hold a European Parliament Lobbying Seminar on the 22nd of September in the European Parliament. This seminar is an opportunity to lobby Members of the European Parliament to support the right of Muslim women to wear the
Hijab. A draft written declaration will also be presented, to eventually be laid before the European Parliament.

Different speakers will address the impact of the ban on different communities and testimonies young girls in France will be presented.

Pro-Hijab believes we must all act to ensure our freedoms remain untouched and our rights inviolate.

Pro-Hijab urges everyone to write to MEPs today asking them to support the right of Muslim woman to wear the Hijab and to stand against this ban. A sample letter and MEP contact details can be found at www.prohijab.net
